Reversi
Place a disc so it traps a line of the computer’s discs between two of yours. Trapped discs flip. Hold the most discs at the end.
You play the blue discs on a 6×6 board. A move must flip at least one line of the computer’s discs; green dots mark your options. If a player cannot move, the turn passes. When neither can move, the player with more discs wins.
How to play
- Pick a square with a green dot. Trapped discs flip.
- Take corners when you can: they can never be flipped back.
- Whoever holds more discs when no moves remain wins.
Tips and tricks
A few ideas that make Reversi easier and more fun:
- Corners are gold: a disc in a corner can never be flipped.
- Fewer discs in the middle game often means more choices than the computer has.
- Avoid squares next to a corner unless it is safe. They can hand the corner over.
About Reversi
Play Reversi online
Reversi is a nineteenth-century strategy game in which discs change colour as the board fills. This six-by-six version keeps rounds short.
Why it works
Every move changes many discs at once, so you weigh immediate gains against position and the computer’s reply. The task uses planning, spatial reasoning and patience.
These are the skills used during play; improvement outside the game is not established.
