Choose a symbol for each position and check your guess. Symbols may repeat. ● means a correct symbol in the correct place; ○ means a correct symbol in another place. You have eight guesses.

How to play
  1. Choose a shape for each empty position. Shapes may repeat.
  2. Press Check guess. The feedback tells you how many shapes are in the right place or another place.
  3. Change a position by selecting it, then a shape. Find the code within eight guesses.
Tips and tricks

A few ideas that make Codebreaker easier and more fun:

  • Use your first guesses to find out which symbols are in the code, then work out where they belong.
  • Every clue is a rule. Before you guess, check that your guess could still be the answer.
  • A symbol can appear more than once. Do not rule it out after it shows up only once.
About Codebreaker

Play Codebreaker online

Codebreaker belongs to the peg-and-clue deduction game family. Each guess gives partial information rather than the answer. Biuno uses pictures as the code symbols so colour is never the only clue.

Why it works

You test an idea against feedback, reject combinations that no longer fit, and plan the next guess. The task uses deduction and keeping several clues in mind.

These are the skills used during play; improvement outside the game is not established.
